Event Graphics

A vibrant campus community lies at the heart of Emory. Events and programs for internal and external audiences bring to life the university’s core missions of teaching, research, and service.

These standards govern the creation of graphics for Emory events. An event graphic can only be
created for events specific to Emory or one of its schools or units.

Creation of an Event Graphic

The Emory University logo or a unit signature should appear in the promotion of an Emory event. The logo or unit signature configuration should be prominently positioned and must be separated by a clear zone of no less than double the width of the “M” in the Emory wordmark, preferably more.

The Emory logos reproduce in Emory blue (PMS 280c), black, white, or gold (PMS 871).

The shield alone is not a complete Emory logo. Do not add other text or graphics to the shield to create a logo design. Event graphics cannot resemble or incorporate an Emory logo.

Types of Event Graphics

There are two kinds of event graphics:

  1. Those specific to schools, departments, internal collaborations, and collaborations with external institutions that promote a one-time or recurring event. These make up the majority of Emory University events and include annual events such as Emory Libraries’ 12th Night Revel and the Emory College and Oxford College pre-orientation event IGNITE.
  2. Unique, university-wide, one-time celebratory events such as Emory’s 175-year anniversary or Emory’s 100 years in Atlanta.

Fonts and Colors

Event graphics can use identity fonts and colors, although it is acceptable to consider other fonts and colors if they fit the event or audience more appropriately. Identity fonts and colors can be found in the Emory Brand Guide.

Orientation

An event graphic should be designed to accommodate horizontal, square, or vertical orientations, doing so provides more ease of use.

Audience Considerations

The Emory-only wordmark can be used for events that occur on campus and have a predominantly Emory audience. For externally focused events and programs, use the Emory University wordmark.

Rendering Event Graphics

The graphic representations for these and other events incorporate the Emory logo and uniquely convey the characteristics and purpose of the event, but aren't limited by the use of plain text and brand logos only. Examples of graphics for one-time or ongoing events show how unique design treatments combine with an Emory, school-level, or unit logo to create a full representation of the event and its connection to Emory. Each has its own color palette, type treatment, and graphic elements that singularly convey the event’s purpose and goals.
