Emory Proton Therapy Center

Emory Proton Therapy Center

Earlier this year, Winship Executive Director Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD, provided a behind-the-scenes tour of the Emory Proton Therapy Center to several Georgia state legislators. Pictured (left to right) is Rep. John Deffenbaugh, Dr. Walter Curran, Jr., Majority Leader Jon Burns, Dr. Samantha Hedrick, Rep. Mark Newton, Dayle Burns, and Rep. Matt Gurtler. The Emory Proton Therapy Center will be the first center of its kind in Georgia to offer patients access to this new, state-of-the-art radiation therapy. The facility will be capable of providing proton beam treatments to patients in five treatment rooms and will be an international leader in proton therapy research. The Proton Center is located just a few blocks away from Emory University Hospital Midtown and is set to open in late 2018.
